The International Cricket Council (ICC) released its latest weekly rankings update, bringing major shifts across the T20I and ODI formats. Dynamic Indian opener Abhishek Sharma has stormed back to the top of the ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings, dethroning teammate Ishan Kishan following a series of explosive performances. Ishan was unfortunate to miss out on two back-toback games in the T20I series against New Zealand. Meanwhile, wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson has made significant strides in T20Is, alongside notable advancements for international stars like Shadab Khan and Ben Duckett in One-Day Internationals.

Abhishek Sharma’s sensational form in the shortest format has pushed him back to the pinnacle of T20I cricket. The aggressive left-hander delivered an extraordinary performance during India’s tour of New Zealand, culminating in a blistering century at the Henry Stadium in Wellington, where India effortlessly chased down 199 in just 13.2 overs.
Abhishek had previously held the World No. 1 spot before Ishan Kishan temporarily moved ahead in July 2026. However, Abhishek’s recent blazing knock helped him reclaim the crown from Ishan, re-establishing himself as the world’s top-ranked T20I batter.
Joining Abhishek in the list of top Indian gainers is Sanju Samson. The keeper-batter climbed six positions in the T20I batting chart to secure 20th place, breaking into the top 20 following consistent match-winning contributions.
