The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially unveiled the schedule for the fifth edition of the Women’s Premier League, i.e., WPL 2027. The marquee women’s T20 tournament will kick off on January 14, 2027, with a pulsating contest between the defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women, and fellow 2-time WPL champions, Mumbai Indians Women, at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara.
Running till February 7, the tournament will witness 22 riveting contests, including the eliminator and final. Vadodara and Mumbai have been picked as the two venues to host the entire tournament.
As mentioned above, the tournament will be hosted across two venues in Vadodara and Mumbai. The BCA Stadium in Kotambi will host the first 11 matches from January 14 to 24. After a brief travel break, the WPL 2027 caravan will then move to the historic Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai from January 26. The venue will also host the eliminator on January 5 and the final on January 7. All games will be played at 7:30 PM IST.
Commenting on the tournament’s scheduling and growth, a BCCI release noted:
“The fifth edition of the Women’s Premier League will feature 22 exciting matches across Vadodara and Mumbai, continuing our vision to take top-tier women’s cricket to diverse fanbases across the country.”
As usual, the tournament will feature five teams, i.e., Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants, and UP Warriorz. The tournament will be played in a double round-robin format, where each team will collide with the other twice in the group stage.
The team finishing at the pole position after all the group matches will secure a direct entry into the final. Meanwhile, the other finalists will be determined in the Eliminator, where the second and third-placed teams in the group stage will lock horns.
