GSW vs POR Dream11 MATCH PREVIEW:

The reigning NBA champions Golden State Warriors will be playing host to Portland Trail Blazers in the first match of the doubleheader at Oracle Arena, in Oakland, California, on Saturday morning (IST).

Golden State Warriors:
The defending champions fell to a familiar foe in the last match as LeBron James’ Los Angeles Lakers defeated Steve Kerr’s men 101-127 at Oracle Arena. This was Warriors’ only third loss of in the last 10 matches. The Dubs even moved to the top of the table after that match after Denver Nuggets’ no win in the last two games.

The Dubs were at full strength in the match, boasting Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson in their ranks, arguably three of the best shooters in NBA. But Lakers came with a plan, stifled all of them with a double-team. The effect was immense, Curry had only 15 points, 5 assists and 2 rebounds, while Klay Thompson could muster only 5 points, 3 assists and 2 rebounds in the match. These are the numbers which can’t be associated with the aforementioned players. Kevin Durant, meanwhile, dropped in the 20s, scoring 21 points, 7 assists and 7 rebounds.

Andre Iguodala topped the scoring chart as he dropped a game-high 23 points with most of his contribution coming in the first half. While Draymond Green, arguably NBA’s best defensive player, was forced into initiating the offensive play for the Dubs and thus he became ineffective for the most part of the game. The two-time NBA defensive player of the year could only score four points in the match.

Portland Trail Blazers:
For the 2nd time in the last three games, Portland Trail Blazers fell to Utah Jazz, losing at both home and away. It was the double-header and now they face the reigning NBA Champions in the same sorts of the run-in.

Blazers struggled to shoot throughout the game, both from inside the paint and beyond the arc. Rudy Gobert and Co. had a clear plan as they suffocated Damian Lillard and teammates, forcing them to justĀ 39.3 percent of their shots from the field, and limiting them to only nine made shots from deep for the game.

Portland are clearly struggling with accuracy as their 117-96 loss against Jazz was the fourth instance in the last seven games where they failed to touch the 100-point mark.

The visitors managed to tie the score in the first quarter but found themselves behind at 59-47 going into the break. The gap could have been more had it not been for Damian Lillard’s 16 first-half points. Blazers converted just 3 of 12 from beyond the arc in the first half.

Jazz never fell behind in the game despite struggling in the beyond the paint. It was more of a Portland’s bad form which handed the hosts an easy win in the match. Lillard finished the match with 20 points.

Regular Season Record-
Golden State Warriors: W-23, L-12
Portland Trail Blazers: W-19, L-15

Players to watch out for:
Golden State Warriors:
Kevin Durant – The two-time NBA MVP is racking up MVP calibre numbers as he is scoring at 28.8 points per game this season. He is an indispensable part of the team. When Warriors lost four games on the bounce, it was Durant who dug his team out of the hole.Ā The former Oklahoma City Thunder can change the face of the game on his own.
Stephen Curry – Superstar and Warriors’ own son, Stephen Curry is the face of Golden State Warriors. He is one of those talents who ticks all the boxes. Whether it’s defending, passing or performing some magic when the ball is in his hands, he can do everything one may imagine on the Basketball court. For the season, his average stands at 28.6 points per game.

Portland Trail Blazers:
Damian Lillard – The 28-year-old remains Portland Trail Blazers’ best player on any given day. He is scoring points at an incredible rate, averaging 26.9 points per game. The Oakland born point guard too good a talent and deadly weapons in his armoury to hurt the opponents.Ā
CJ McCollum – Has the temperament to produce absolute incredible numbers on aĀ day and can go under the radar as well. But the 27-year-old is Portland’s second best player in every regard, dropping points at 20.5 per game.
