With that win, the Phillies moved to a 0.5 lead in NL East.

So far so good, Kyle Gibson is proving to be a steal after the Phillies acquired him from the Texas Rangers on July 30. The starting pitcher produced his second strong performance in as many games, allowing only one earned run on four hits in six innings. Bryce Harper capped off the night with a two-run homer at the bottom of the 8th inning in a game that signalled a shift in the balance of power in the National East.
“This is what you work so hard for,” manager Joe Girardi said. “You do all your work in the winter and in spring training, you go through the first 100 games, not a lot went right for us, then you come home and you’re a half-game out of first place. There’s been a lot of emotion. We’ve had a lot of walk-off wins of late which has kind of fueled that emotion. Emotion is important in this game.”
Mets will aim to get their summit back when they play in the middle contest of this three-match series at Citizens Bank Park on early Sunday morning (IST).
