AFG vs IRE 1st ODI: Top 3 fantasy cricket picks for Afghanistan vs Ireland Dream11 Team

By Chaitanya Laxman

After receiving a drubbing in the T20I series, Ireland will be looking to fightback in the ODI series. But their task won’t be easy as Afghanistan are in fine form and the team has the momentum with them.

Both teams will look to start the ODI series on a high note by winning the first game and for these the teams will be looking at these three players to step up and deliver in the AFG vs IRE 1st ODI.

#3. William Porterfield-

The skipper of the Ireland team, Porterfield has an experience of 122 ODIs and has 11 centuries under his belt. And hence the Ireland team will expect him to go all guns blazing in the first ODI.

Porterfield is going through a lean patch in the recent times and he would be knowing that the flat and slow Indian pitches are the perfect chance for him to regain his form.

It will be interesting to see how Porterfield approaches the Afghanistan pace bowlers as they are the weak links and the Ireland skipper will look to pounce on it.

#2. Mujeeb Ur Rahman-

The seventeen year old spinner has 44 wickets in 23 ODIs and is a serious threat especially for a team which hasn’t played a lot of quality spin.

Mujeeb’s off-spin could be a big factor in this ODI series as he is known to rip apart batting line-ups on tracks that assist his bowling style. Rahman had a decent outing the T20Is series against Ireland but he managed to claim only two wickets in two games. Hence he will be itching to make more impact in this series.

#1. Rashid Khan-

Undoubtedly, Ireland’s biggest challenge in this ODI series is the leg-spin of Rashid Khan. The Afghanistan spinner claimed 11 wickets in the three T20Is to stamp his dominance and the same will be expected from him.

It won’t be a surprise if the leg-spinner runs through Ireland’s batting order in the ODI series as well.
