CPL 2021: Akeal Hosein pulls off the catch of the tournament

CPL 2021: The Caribbean cricketing extravaganza has almost reached its midway stage. St Kitts and Nevis Patriots are leading the table with a 100% record. Three teams are tied on 4 points while the Barbados Royals and St Lucia Kings are languishing at the bottom with just one win.

Akeal Hosein catch on the Boundary Line

The Trinbago Knight Riders and Guyana Amazon Warriors played a thriller in match 11 of the CPL 2021. The game witnessed a moment of magic by Akeal Hosein. It all happened in the 18th over of the Warriors run chase. Nicholas Pooran shuffled and gave an almighty whack to a full and wide delivery by Ravi Rampaul. It looked like it was heading for the ropes.

CPL 2021: Warriors vs Knight Riders Match 11 Report

The amazing catch by Hosein was just a prelude to an even more exciting event. The match went down to a super over! Earlier, the Knight Riders posted 138/9 from their quota of 20 overs. Colin Munro top-scored with 32, and there were contributions from Sunil Narine, Tion Webster, and Isuru Tilakratna. Romario Shepherd and Mohammed Hafeez took 3 wickets each.

In response, the Warriors made a mess of an easy chase, giving away wickets regularly despite getting starts. Ravi Rampaul was the pick of the bowlers with 4 wickets. Sunil Narine was his usual miserly self, taking 2 wickets for just 9 runs.

The match eventually got tied, with a run out on the last ball. Pooran and Hetmyer came out to bat in the Super Over for the Warriors. But they could manage only six runs of Narine’ over, failing to bat even six balls. In reply, Romario Shepherd pulled off a blinder. He bowled full and accurately and defended the paltry total, richly deserving the Player of the Match award.
