IND Playing 11: With first Test ending in a draw, England and India will be up against each other at Lord’s with an eye to take the lead. India looked a better team and dominated a better part of the first Test. Their potent fast bowling attack led by Jasprit Bumrah, was all over England’s batting line-up. The experienced middle order batsmen, though, had a tough time out there facing James Anderson. Still, India will be a confident side going into the second Test. In 127 Tests played between these two teams, England leads India 49-30 while 50 matches have ended in a draw.

Team News

  • Kohli has hinted that India are likely to continue with the combination of 4 fast bowlers unless there are any dry conditions. This could mean no room for Ashwin again.
  • Ishant Sharma can replace Mohammed Siraj from the last match.

IND Playing 11 (likely)

Rohit Sharma
KL Rahul
Cheteshwar Pujara
Virat Kohli (C)
Ajinkya Rahane
Rishabh Pant (wk)
Ravindra Jadeja
Shardul Thakur
Mohammed Shami
Jasprit Bumrah
Mohammed Siraj/ Ishant Sharma

India’s middle order will be a concern as all the batters Pujara, Kohli and Rahane got out cheaply in the last Test. Pujara is due a big score for a long time now. Though there were plenty of positives for the visitors as KL Rahul showed excellent form on his return to the Test side. The fast bowlers look in good form and are likely to play an important role here. Jasprit Bumrah will be the biggest threat to England’s batsmen.
