ENG Playing 11: England and India now head to the iconic Lord’s for the second Test of the series. With rain interrupting the first Test, the match was forced to end in a draw. England were on the backfoot for most of the match but their best players Joe Root and James Anderson led the way to keep their team in the contest. They quickly need to figure out a way to tackle this quality Indian fast bowling attack until it gets too late. Both teams have played 127 Tests till now in which England leads India 49-30. 50 matches have ended in a draw.

Team News

  • England are likely to continue with 4 fast bowlers which means no room for Jack Leach.
  • Ollie Pope is set to return to the eleven after recovering from quad injury. He is likely to replace Dan Lawrence.

ENG Playing 11 (likely)

Rory Burns
Dom Sibley
Zak Crawley
Joe Root (C)
Jonny Bairstow
Ollie Pope
Jos Buttler (wk)
Sam Curran
Ollie Robinson
Stuart Broad
James Anderson

England’s top order will be under tremendous pressure to perform. Apart from Joe Root, who scored a fluent match saving century in the first Test, the rest of the batting line-up looks vulnerable. Dom Sibley has looked solid but inability to get a big score will be a concern for the management. The bowling though, looks in good shape with James Anderson consistently troubling the Indian batting line-up. Ollie Robinson’s 5-wicket haul was a big positive from the last match.
