The visitors were absolutely on top after getting England bowled out for just 183 runs in the first innings and then the pair of Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul putting up a fabulous 97-run opening partnership. However, it was veteran pacer James Anderson who showed his class to help the hosts make a strong comeback in the Test match.

Anderson puts England ahead after Rohit-Rahul 97-run partnership

India continued their domination in the game on Day 2 as both the openers, Rahul and Rohit looked pretty solid against the England pacers. Both of them showed great amount of temperament and skill to keep the English bowlers at bay for a substantial amount of time. India recorded their best opening partnership in SENA countries since 2011 as the openers added 97 run for the first wicket. However, once again after being set and done the hardwork, Rohit threw his wicket away at the stroke of lunch.

However, Rohit’s wicket proved to be a big turning point on Day 2 as England sensed to make a comeback. In the second session, England were all over India as James Anderson first removed Cheteshwar Pujara and then dismissed Virat Kohli for a golden duck. The situation became worse for India when Ajinkya Rahane was also sent back to the pavilion after a terrible mix-up with KL Rahul. From being 97 for no loss, India collapsed to 112 for 4 in quick time.
