Fastest to 10,000 runs in ODIs

On Wednesday, he needed 81 runs to get to the 10,000-run milestone in One Day Internationals. Not only he achieved the feat to become the fastest to 10,000 ODI runs, beating Sachin Tendulkar’s record by an insane 54 innings.

 

 

1000 runs in a calendar year for record 6th time

The Indian skipper, during his knock of unbeaten 157, surpassed 1000 ODI runs in a calendar year for the 6th time. Kohli took only 11 innings to get to the milestone, which is also the quickest in any calendar year. Previously, Kohli has scored 1000 ODI runs in a calendar year in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2017.

Saurav Ganguly, Ricky Ponting and Kumar Sangakkara have also recorded 1000 ODI runs in a calendar year six times. Only Sachin Tendulkar has registered the landmark on more occasions – 7 instances.

Most 5+ ODI tons in a calendar year

This is the third time Virat Kohli has scored five or more ODI centuries in a calendar year, the most by any player. Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting and AB de Villiers have achieved this feat twice in their careers.
