The men in blue restricted Pakistan to mere 237 runs  in 50 overs and then a tremendous opening partnership between Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan steered India home in the 4oth over.

Here we take a look at some of the key stats from this match.

India’s biggest win over Pakistan

The Indian team crushed Pakistan by nine wickets in this Asia Cup match to register their biggest win against the neighbouring nation.

Before this, India’s biggest win against Pakistan was the 1998 match played at Dhaka which the men in blue won by eight wickets.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and the other opener Shikhar Dhawan both scored individual centuries and also registered a record-breaking partnership.

Their stand of 210 runs for the first wicket is now India’s highest ever opening partnership while chasing a target. Before this the duo of Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag held this record for scoring 201 runs against New Zealand in 2009.

This is also India’s highest ever opening partnership against Pakistan. Rohit and Dhawan’s 210 run stand surpassed Sachin Tendulkar’s and Saurav Ganguly’s opening partnership of 159 runs which they scored in Dhaka in 1998.

This is also the first time Rohit and Dhawan scored a century in the same game and overall it is the seventh instance of Indian openers scoring a century each in the same innings.

Meanwhile Rohit became the fifth fastest Indian to score 7000 ODI runs.
