In the absence of Virat Kohli, opening batsman Rohit Sharma will be leading India in the Asia cup and he is looking forward to the opportunity. Rohit said that he is a bit nervous, but very excited as well.

Rohit was speaking with the media ahead of India’s opening match against Hong Kong on 18th September. The Indian captain said that he is excited about the tournament.

Asia Cup  a big tournament: Rohit 

At the same time Rohit pointed out that Asia cup is a very big tournament. He also reminded everyone that he has done captaincy before in a series, but this is a very big tournament for him and  he is quite excited.

Talking about his team mates he said that he has played with these boys quite a bit, so they understand each other. He also stated that he is looking forward to it.

Hong Kong game good chance to access conditions: Rohit 

Speaking about the clash against Hong Kong, the Indian captain admitted that they have not played here. He noted that the last time a lot of the boys played here was during the IPL [Indian Premier League] in 2014 and it’s been a long time since they played at this particular venue.

Rohit stated that tomorrow is a good chance to assess the pitch, the grounds, the dimensions . He also pointed out that it’s important you understand all of that and take it into your game.

Rohit wants to seal number four and number six

The right-hand batsman also spoke about the team combination. He said that there are a lot of spots up for grabs – No.3, 4, 6. and all these guys are eyeing that.

Elaborating on the team’s strategy he said that they got to see what the best combination can be for this particular series. He made it clear that they want to give chances to as many guys as possible and want to make sure that No.4 and No.6 spot is sealed.
