Rajasthan Royals’ all hopes of getting into the play-offs of IPL 2019 came to a crashing end as the team was routed for just 115 runs and then Delhi steered home in only the 17th over. Riyan Parag scored another high quality fifty but Amit Mishra gave just 17 runs in his four overs picking three wickets while Rishabh Pant slammed 53 not out to knock out RR from IPL season 12.

Delhi bowlers choke SRH

Batting first, RR lost both their openers quickly as Ishant Sharma breathed fire and removed both of them in successive overs. Sanju Samson’s run-out in the fifth over added to their miseries and their young batsman Mahipal Lomror departed quickly too.

Amit Mishra applied the brakes in the middle-overs by just shelling out 17 runs in his four overs while Axar Patel gave 16 runs in his four overs. Trent Boult too chipped in with two wickets but it was Riyan Parag who once again anchored RR’s innings with another sublime knock. His 50 off 49 balls enabled RR to bat their all 20 overs and reach 115 runs.

Rishabh Pant guides Delhi Capitals to a massive win

In response, RR’s spinners too kept things tidy. Ish Sodhi removed both Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw on back-to-back deliveries but then Rishabh Pant added 33 runs with Shreyas Iyer (15 off 9 balls) and 22 runs with Colin Ingram (12 off 23 balls).

Pant meanwhile continued with his impressive IPL 2019 season and scored 53 not out off 38 balls and in the process slammed five sixes.

Rajasthan knocked out, Delhi finish with nine wins

With the defeat, Rajasthan have completed their all 14 matches in IPL 2019. But with just five wins and 11 points they are currently placed at number seven and have no chance of reaching the play-offs.

Delhi too have completed their 14 matches and have nine wins under their belt which has currently placed them on number two in the points table. If Mumbai lose their last league match, Delhi will remain at number two position.
