India vs England

India vs England: England will take on India in the 2nd Semi-Final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. England was 2nd in Group 1 with 7 points from 5 matches and will be keen to book a place in the finals. But before going into the semi-final against India, England suffered 2 huge blows. Their number three batsman Dawid Malan and express pace bowler Mark Wood have been injured and may not take the field on Thursday. They would want to address this issue and find suitable replacements before the high-octane clash against India. Let’s see what are the possible changes England is likely to make for this fixture.

1. Phil Salt to replace Dawid Malan

England’s number three batter and top-ranked T20I batter Dawid Malan has suffered an injury and will not play against India in the 2nd semi-final. Top English players including Moeen Ali have confirmed it. Malan limped off the field in the 15th over after pulling up as he chased a ball to the boundary during England’s previous game against Sri Lanka. As per reports, opener Phil Salt will replace him in the XI and will play in the middle order.

2.  Mark Wood injured, Jordan to replace him

England’s express pacer Mark Wood may not take the field against India on Thursday. The 32-year-old Wood withdrew from the optional practice due to general body stiffness while taking a gentle jog on Tuesday. Wood has taken nine wickets from four matches so far in this T20 World Cup. Chis Jordan could replace Wood if he doesn’t recover on time.

3. Stokes to bat at three, Salt to play the role of a floater

With Malan ruled out, Ben Stokes for sure will bat at number three for England. With finishers like Livingstone and Brook to follow, England could use Phil Salt as a floater in between them and make him go bonkers from ball one in the middle overs to keep the run rate going. This would also help Stokes to play his natural game and this will help to reduce the pressure on Livingstone and Brook in the later part of the innings.
