Hales ruled out due to injury:

Alex Hales has been ruled out of the ODI Series due to a side strain that he sustained in training before the first ODI at Trent Bridge.

England skipper Eoin Morgan confirmed that Hales would not have been England’s first choice considering the fact that Ben Stokes was fit now.

But Hales’ strong performances against Australia including his knock of 147 against Australia a few weeks ago, would have presented a strong case for him in the remaining two games.

Middlesex’s Dawid Malan, who has played Test and T20I matches for England but is still uncapped in ODI cricket will be staying with the England squad to cover up for Alex Hales, who has been ruled out from cricketing action for three to four weeks. His injury would thus keep him away from the England vs India ODI Series.

Sam Curran has also been released by England for appearing in a T20I match for Surrey against Sussex on Friday.

But, he would be rejoining the squad ahead of Saturday’s One-day international.

Eoin Morgan on Kuldeep Yadav:

Eoin Morgan admitted that Kuldeep Yadav ‘exposes’ a weakness in England’s game.

Kuldeep Yadav took 6 wickets conceding 25 runs as England were crushed by India with 59 balls remaining at Trent Bridge.

Applauding the pacer, Eoin Morgan said, “He is really good. He exposes an area of our game that we need to improve on.”

“Considering the fact that there is only one left-arm wrist spin bowler in the world, it is not a huge concern for us.”

“He is not just another wrist-spinner, we played a lot of cricket for the last six months but we have not come up against anybody like this,” he said.

Morgan also suggested that the surface at Trent Bridge helped Kuldeep Yadav but the pitch at Lord’s where they would be playing their second ODI on Saturday would prove less helpful for him.
