Jofra Archer ruled out due to injury: England fast bowler Jofra Archer will be missing out the next Test series versus New Zealand due to an elbow injury. His availability for the much anticipated Test series against India is also in doubt. The 26-year-old sustained the knock during the County Championship while in action for Sussex as he took on Kent. Archer could only bowl five overs in the second innings, and this has been one of his issues which have constantly risen in recent times.

As per a statement from the England and Wales Cricket Board, they will be assessing Jofra Archer’s condition quite closely.

“The England and Sussex medical teams will now seek guidance, and Archer will see a medical consultant later this week to determine the next course of action on the management of his elbow.”

Prior to this, Archer also went through a surgery to get rid of a piece of glass from a cut that he suffered while cleaning his fish tank.

Jofra Archer misses out for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2021

The Barbados born player wasn’t even a part of the Rajasthan Royals camp a result of it for this season’s IPL. Although the second half of the league is yet to be played later this year, it is unlikely that Archer returns to the Royals provided he’s fit, as England have a packed international schedule ahead.

Jofra Archer made a noteworthy comeback against Kent, as he managed to pick two wickets for just 29 runs in 13 overs. But Ian Salisbury, the Sussex coach, recently confirmed that Archer would not be bowling again in this match.

Sussex skipper Ben Brown spoke about how he felt sorry for the fast bowler as well.

“The issue here is a sad one for Jofra,” said Ben Brown.

“He’s a champion cricketer, so talented and so gifted, but at the moment he cannot do what he wants to do — he cannot do his skill.

“I really feel for him.”

The impact of Jofra Archer

Jofra Archer has been a revelation for England cricket, and has been one of the hottest properties in the fast bowling department. Archer has scalped 42 wickets from just the 13 Tests for England, which includes three five-wicket hauls as well. Other than that he’s also managed to pick 30 wickets from 17 ODIs, and has also been a success in the IPL with 46 wickets from 35 appearances for the Rajasthan Royals.

Although England do have veterans James Anderson, and Stuart Broad available at their service, Jofra Archer’s absence could turn out to be a big blow for the summer ahead.
