Learn from Virat Kohli, show some guts,’ England assistant coach, Paul Farbace had told to his batsmen after Virat’s majestic knock of 103 runs.

He might now ask his team to take cues from the Indian team who scripted a roaring comeback after going down by 2-0 to make the series by 2-1.

It took seventeen balls for team India to win the third Test on the fifth day by 203 runs at Trent Bridge, Nottingham as Ashwin dismissed Anderson on the fifth ball of his first over of the day.

India had set a mammoth target of 522 runs for the hosts. A blistering century from Indian skipper Virat Kohli in India’s second innings, mighty knocks from Rahane and Puajara, Pandya’s fifer on Day 2 and Bumrah’s five-wicket haul on Day four ensured India’s win in the third Test match.

While Virat Kohli and his deputy Rahane scored 97 runs and 81 runs in India’s first innings to give the hosts a target of 329/10, skipper Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara smashed 103 runs and 72 runs in India’s second innings before India chose to declare on 352/7.

Hosts were bundled out for 161 in their first innings and they could only score 317 runs in their second innings.

Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya ripped apart the batting order of England to reduce them to 161 for ten in their first innings and Jasprit Bumrah took the lead on Day four to deny the hosts a victory by taking a five-wicket haul.

Although England’s Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes battled it out with the visitors to keep the game alive on Day four, they failed to shift the game in their favour.

Kohli was adjudged as ‘Man of the Match’ for his knocks of 97 and 103 runs in both the innings for his team. Indian skipper has infused the much-needed confidence in his team and now they will embark for Southampton with lifted hopes to play the fourth Test match slated to begin from 30 August.
