Bedi responds to Nasser Hussain’s ‘Men vs Boys’ jibe

By Shalini Singh

India suffered a humiliating defeat against England in the second Test at Lord’s and it drew a lot of criticism from several cricket experts around the world.

England had outplayed India by an innings and 159 runs and it had prompted former England skipper Nasser Hussain to mock India by saying that it was ‘men vs boys’ at the moment and was critical of India’s meek performance.

But, India has staged a heroic comeback against the hosts in the fourth Test and they are on the brink of winning the third Test at Trent Bridge.

India’s comeback in this match has already garnered much appreciation because of their shining performance in the ongoing Test and it seems that India have almost sought vengeance from the hosts.

But, before it gets done and dusted, former Indian cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi has taken up a war of words with Nasser Hussain and has responded to his ‘men vs boys’ remark.

Taking to Twitter, Bedi wrote on Tuesday, “Indian ‘boys’ become ‘men’ almost overnight…so to speak.!!”

Team India are on the cusp of a victory as they have reduced the hosts to 311 for 9. The hosts had started day 4 at 23 for no loss but lost their top two batsmen early and could only manage scoring 62 for 4 before lunch.

Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes showed some resistance and kept the game alive on Day four by stitching a 164-runs partnership for the fifth wicket but Bumrah got the much-needed breakthrough after dismissing Buttler on 103 and India finished the day with one wicket to go.
