Asia Cup 2022

Indian Cricket Team so far are having a decent campaign in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022. The Men in Blue kickstarted their campaign on high as they defeated their arch-rivals Pakistan in the very first game and then thrashed Hong Kong to qualify for the Super 4s.

Asia Cup 2022: Avesh Khan ruled out of game against Pakistan in Super 4s

As each day is playing the concerns for India are also increasing. After Ravindra Jadeja was ruled out of the tournament, the Rohit Sharma-led side suffered another blow as pacer Avesh Khan is also set to miss the clash against Pakistan.

The right-arm pacer reportedly has been suffering from viral fever for the last 2 days and he is deemed unfit by the medical team to play India’s next game against Pakistan.

Indian head coach Rahul Dravid also confirmed that the pacer is unwell and they are hoping that the pacer becomes fit for the later matches of the tournament. However, few media reports have suggested that if Avdesh fails to recover in time, Deepak Chahar will be added to India’s squad.

Talking about Avesh’s performance in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022, the right-arm pacer has struggled to get his line and length correct. He also has been expensive as he gave away 53 runs in his 4-over quota against Hong Kong.

Asia Cup 2022: R Ashwin likely to replace Avesh Khan in the India XI

With India having only three pacers in the side, R Ashwin will likely replace Avesh Khan in the side. He’s likely to get a nod ahead of Ravi Bishnoi as him being a senior spinner and handy with the bat, he can be the best choice to replace Avesh.

In place of Jadeja, it’s almost certain that Axar Patel will come into the side whereas the rest of the team is likely to remain the same.

Here’s Indian XI for the game against Pakistan

Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik, Axar Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, R.Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Arshdeep Singh
