England COVID Case AUS vs ENG Live : In a massive recent development, the visiting England camp have suffered a big blow as a COVID-19 positive case has been reported in the team’s family group just before the start of play on Day 2 of the Ashes 3rd Test against Australia. However, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have released an official update that all of their players have been cleared to play today and the team has also reached the Melbourne Cricket Ground. In another development, a member of the Channel Seven broadcast team working from the MCG has also tested positive for Covid-19 on Sunday night.

In a sudden shocker, England’s players were awaiting the results of their Covid-19 tests before the start of scheduled play on Day 2 of the third Ashes Test match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. It was first the ECB who has reported that a positive case has been reported in the team’s family group after which the English players were only cleared following a negative Covid-19 result. Cricket Australia (CA) also confirmed that all the players from both England and Australia have tested negative for coronavirus.

“Cricket Australia has been informed that two members of the England Cricket Team’s support staff and two of their family members have returned a positive COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test. The affected individuals are currently isolating.? Here’s the official update,” tweeted Cricket Australia.

Australia vs England, Ashes 2021-22

“Seven is activating its COVID measures to ensure the health and safety of all staff, as well as the broader community, and is working in line with all relevant guidelines and regulations,” head of sport Lewis Martin said.

“There have been a number of changes to today’s production schedule, which will be led by Alistair Nicholson, Andy Maher and Jason Richardson with expert comments from Lisa Sthalekar, Brad Hodge, Callum Ferguson, Michael Atherton and Dirk Nannes. Seven’s number one priority is the health, safety and welfare of all staff and the community,” the Channel Seven team added.

While talking about the Boxing Day Test match on Day 1 saw the visiting England team once again struggling with their batting as bundled out for a below-par total of 185 runs in 65.1 overs. England captain Joe Root scored yet another half-century while Jonny Bairstow and Ben Stokes contributed with scores of 35 and 25 respectively. For Australia, the duo of skipper Pat Cummins and off-spinner Nathan Lyon picked up three wickets each while Mitchell Starc also scalped two important wickets.

In reply, Australia also lost the wicket of their senior opener David Warner late on Day 1 of the the third Test as the hosts ended the day at 61 for 1 with Marcus Harris and Nathan Lyon unbeaten at the crease when the stumps were signalled by the umpires.
