BAN vs SL: Bangladesh is all set to host the Sri Lankan team for a two-match Test series. The first Test match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka is scheduled to start from 15 May, 2022 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. The second and final Test match of the BAN vs SL series will begin from 23 May, 2022 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.

“Shakib tested COVID positive and will not be available for the opening Test against Sri Lanka,” stated Jalal Yunus, BCB’s cricket operation chairman.

“Coming straight into a Test match, we need to check his fitness and assess where he is. He has just come off COVID, and he hasn’t played much cricket. He’s obviously a big player for us, balances the team. But we need to see how he is tomorrow. He hasn’t batted or bowled for the last two or three weeks. It is five days of cricket. It is hot. There are all sorts of things to consider,” Bangladesh head coach Russell Domingo told reporters at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
