Bangladesh batsman equals Kohli’s record

Bangladesh batsman Mominqual Haque scored a magnificent hundred against Windies in the first Test and in the process equaled Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s record for scoring the most Test hundreds in 2018. Both batsmen now have 4 hundreds each in Tests in 2018.

The Indian batting sensation Virat Kohli is in tremendous form in 2018 in all forms of the game and his success in Tests is staggering.

In 2018, Kohli has scored Test hundreds in South Africa and England in difficult conditions to prove his claim as the top batsman in red-ball cricket across the world.

On the other hand, Mominul Haq is going through a purple patch as well. He has hammered four Test hundreds in this year and has become a core member of Bangladesh’s batting unit.

Interestingly apart from Kohli and Mominul, no other batsman in the world has scored more than 2 hundreds in Tests this year and this is what makes Kohli’s and Mominul’s achievement more special.

Not right to compare with Virat and Tamim: Mominul 

Mominul’s sterling knock paved way for comparisons with Virat and Tamim Iqbal, however, the Bangladeshi batsman brushed aside this topic.

He said that talking of Tamim bhai, there is no question of comparing him with Tamim. According to Mominul, the left-hand batsman is on another level in world cricket and he doesn’t think it is right to compare with him, and at the same time he noted that Virat Kohli is even higher.

The Bangladesh batsman revealed that he doesn’t think about comparisons. He also pointed out that the year is not over yet, there are Tests left, the second innings and the second Test. So instead of thinking about that, he thinks about how to improve and contribute to the team as much as he can.
