BCCI is yet to make a final decision on its list of players to feature in the Asia XI team for the two-match T20I series against World XI, including Virat Kohli’s participation.

Virat Kohli has not given consent yet

Asia XI vs World XI T20Is slated to be played in Dhaka on March 21 and 22. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have released Asia XI squad, naming Virat Kohli expecting that Team India skipper will feature in at least one match.

However, India captain Virat Kohli’s strenuous workload is a factor BCCI will weigh on before making a final call. According to a top BCCI source, India captain has not yet given his consent for the participation.

“The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has sent a wish list of 10 names and we are supposed to send five players. As of now, we have not confirmed any names. All the players including the skipper will undergo tests to check their level of workload. Only then we will give the names,” a senior BCCI source told PTI.

“It will now depend whether Kohli gives his consent or not. Don’t forget that the IPL will involve extensive travelling and once it’s over, there are number of overseas T20 series lined up,” another senior official said.

Team India’s schedule for March

On return from New Zealand tour on March 6, the next assignment for Team India begins on March 12. India will take on South Africa in the first ODI of the three-match series against South Africa on March 12. IPL 2020 starts March 29.
