BCCI’s reverse gear!

After having a meeting with the Indian cricket team’s think tank, BCCI headed by CoA (Committee of Administration) has decided to give relief to the players that they can bring wives and girlfriends on the tour barring first Ten days.

CoA took this decision after Indian skipper Virat Kohli urged BCCI to look after the policy of not allowing WAGs on overseas tour as players were unhappy with the decision made.

Earlier, BCCI passed a rule of not allowing female partners to accompany players for more than two weeks on abroad tour.

Alterations made

The modification of the previous policy came to light in a meeting happened in Mumbai regarding the performance-based appraisal of the players.
The meeting included Indian Skipper Virat Kohli, ODI deputy Rohit Sharma, Test deputy Ajinkya Rahane and Head coach Ravi Shastri before the second Test against Windies.

2011 world cup hero, Gautam Gambhir also stated that it’s up to players whether they want their partners to group with them or not.
BCCI should allow WAGs until player’s performances get unaffected.

The whole saga summed up the belief of CoA that the presence of wives will give the positivity to the atmosphere of the dressing rooms.
thus, the same will reflect on the results.

The verdict was taken after following the footsteps of Cricket Australia.
They introduced the mirror rule in 2015 when Mr James Sutherland, CEO Cricket Australia allows wives to accompany players regardless of the embarrassing performance in the Ashes.

Several other points were discussed in the meeting which was organised in Mumbai with the core of the Indian Cricket team. It enabled the basic needs of the cricketers and media hyped topics like continuous shuffling of playing XI. CoA took charge this time and gave preference to the core’s decision.

India will play five-match ODI series and three-match T20 series with Windies which will be hosted by Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, Pune, Mumbai, Thiruvananthapuram, Kolkata, Lucknow and Chennai.
