Bumrah gets Kohli out in the nets, skipper reacts

Indian captain Virat Kohli never shies away from praising his bowlers and his premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah deserves a lot of it for his contribution to the current form of the Indian team. Both the players are at the peak of their powers at this moment and fans have always wondered how is the matchup between two players in the net session.

On the eve of first ODI against Australia, the two-star players came once again face to face in the pre-match net session. Kohli batted for quite some time facing the charged up pacer. But, Bumrah had the last laugh as he got the better off the skipper. In the press conference post the practice session, Kohli had some kind words for the 26-year old pacer when asked about the incident.

Kohli called Bumrah one of the most skilful bowlers and brings intensity to the net session. The captain later made it clear that he only got out on the last ball of the practice session.

“This is only the second time I have gotten out to him in the nets in the past four years since he has been with the team. I am glad that was the last ball of my net session because he did return to his mark but I had gotten out. The competition is really fun with him in the nets. According to me, he is the most skilful bowler and he brings match intensity at the nets”, the skipper said.

Kohli talks about Bumrah intensity in the nets

Kohli went to say that Jasprit never shies from bowling bouncers to his teammates at the nets, a few of which hit the batsmen on the head or are particularly targetted at the ribs. The 31-year old added, “I love the challenge of facing him as he is the best in the world and I enjoy competing against the best.

Both players will get together with the Indian side to face Australia in the first ODI on January 14 in Mumbai. Jasprit Bumrah recently made a comeback to the side after an injury layoff and the pacer had immediately created an impact on the performance of the bowling unit.
