Danish Kaneria And Mohammad Amir Fight: Two former Pakistani cricketers, Danis Kaneria and Mohammad Amir, have come to blows, not in a technical way but through their statements on a player sitting across the border – Rohit Sharma. Both Kaneria and Amir have retired from cricket, with the latter shockingly ending his rather short and controversial career in January 2021.
Mohammad Amir certainly knows how to remain in the spotlight when you are not an active cricketer. The 29-year-old last week made a controversial statement on India’s Hitman Rohit Sharma, saying that the Mumbai Indians captain has a weakness against left-arm bowlers.
“I haven’t found it tough bowling to either. In fact, I find it easy to bowl to him (Rohit). I feel that I can get him out both ways. He struggles against the in-swinger from a left-armer and as well as against the ball that goes away early on,” Said Amir.
However, Amir acknowledged that he finds bowling to Virat Kohli comparatively tougher as India captains tend to do better in pressure cooking situations.
“I may say that I find bowling to Virat slightly tougher because he revels in pressure situations, but otherwise, I’ve never found it difficult bowling to either of the two”.
Entered Danish Kaneria. The 40-year-old leg spinner lambasted Amir on his YouTube Channel.
Speaking about Amir, Kaneria said that Amir was no longer the same bowler he used to be as he lost pace and swing that was the reason for his omission from Pakistan’ Cricket Team.
He also challenged Amir to make a comeback to Cricket and then bowl to Rohit Sharma on a cricket field.
Kaneria then added that Rohit Sharma is far superior to Mohammad Amir and is of a higher class.
Mohammad Amir burst onto the scene as a 17-year-old bowler who had the pace, swing and all the skills to become a ferocious bowler. However, the then 18-year-old Amir found himself in a match-fixing scandal, along with Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif, during the Pakistan Tour of England in 2010, now known as the Pakistan Cricket Spot-Fixing Scandal. Amir was handed a six-year ban from International cricket. He made a successful return to cricket and starred in Pakistan’s famous Champions Trophy win in 2017.
Match-Fixing has been Pakistan Cricket’s Achilles heel. Danish Kaneria also found himself under the scanner during County Championship season in 2012.
ECB brought charges against Kaneria of underperforming for money paid by a notorious bookmaker.
Later in 2017. Kaneria admitted to doing the wrong and revealed that he tricked one of his Essex teammates to underperform in one of the games.
“My name is Danish Kaneria and I admit that I was guilty of the two charges brought against me by the England and Wales Cricket Board in 2012, said Danish Kaneria during an interview in 2017.”
Rohit Sharma boasts an envious record in all forms of cricket. The Hitman has scored 9205 runs in 227 ODIs, including an unprecedented 3 double-centuries, while in 111 T20Is, Rohit has amassed 2864 runs.
Rohit’s record as captain is even more staggering. He has won five IPL titles as captain with Mumbai Indians.
Pakistan bowler Mohammad Shami shocked the entire cricket nation when he announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in January 2021.
