Dawid Malan IPL Debut: In a big breaking news, the No.1 T20I batsman Dawid Malan is all set to make his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut for the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the today IPL match against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Punjab Kings have suffered a massive blow with their in-form skipper KL Rahul admitted to the hospital with acute appendicitis. The franchise has released an official statement which mentioned that Rahul had complained of severe abdomen pain on Saturday night and he was taken to the hospital after not responding to the medication.
After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, Punjab Kings’ stand-in captain Mayank Agarwal revealed that Dawid Malan will be making his IPL debut in this game as Nicholas Pooran has been dropped from the playing XI. In the absence of Rahul, the duo of Mayank Agarwal and Prabhsimran Singh will be opening the batting for the Punjab Kings in this match against Delhi Capitals.

While playing for England, Dawid Malan has scored 1003 runs in 24 T20Is at an impressive average of 50.15 which includes 10 fifties and 1 century. It will be really interesting to see Malan’s batting approach on his IPL debut innings today. The left-hander has also scored a wonderful fifty against India in the 5th T20I match at the same venue. On the other hand, the Delhi Capitals are playing with an unchanged side.
As far as KL Rahul’s injury is concerned, the recent update is that the right-handed batsman will be undergoing a surgery and thus, he is likely to miss the remainder of the IPL 2021 season. After completely recovering from the surgical process, Rahul will also have to serve a mandatory quarantine period to be eligible to enter Punjab Kings’ bio-bubble.
