Harshal Patel IPL 2022: Things went quite wayward for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in their most recent match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season against Chennai Super Kings as they conceded a convincing 23-run defeat. One of the major reasons for the RCB loss was the absence of their premier pace bowler Harshal Patel. After the sudden demise of his young sister, Harshal unfortunately had to leave the IPL 2022 bio-bubble post the game against Mumbai Indians on 9 April in Pune.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore are now scheduled to take on the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on 16 April, 2022. However, the big news is that Harshal Patel has joined the IPL 2022 bio-bubble and already completed his mandatory quarantine of three days. Harshal is all set to make his return into the RCB playing 11 for the crucial game against Delhi Capitals on Saturday.
After the last loss against Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis stressed a lot on Harshal’s importance in their bowling attack. The Haryana cricketer has performed really well for RCB both in the IPL 2021 season and in the ongoing edition of the T20 tournament.
“You see the value of Harshal, and what he offers. He has the ability to stop the game. We missed that tonight, we had a similar tone to the bowling. We lacked the variety we needed in our attack. Hopefully, we can have him soon again,” said RCB captain Faf du Plessis after the loss against Chennai Super Kings.
During the IPL 2021 season, Harshal Patel won the Purple Cap for his terrific display of bowling especially at the death and ended as the leading wicket-taker with a total of 32 wickets from 15 matches at an economy of 8.14. In 4 games of IPL 2022, Harshal has picked up as many as 6 wickets at an amazing economy of 5.50.
