Mitchell Marsh DC vs PBKS: Things have not worked out in an ideal manner for the Delhi Capitals (DC) overseas recruit Mitchell Marsh so far in the starting stages of Tata Indian Premier League (IPL 2022). The big-hitting Australian all-rounder was first struggling with a slight hip flexor injury due to which he also missed the first few games this T20 season. Now, after having an unforgettable debut for the Delhi Capitals with the bat, Marsh has unfortunately tested positive for Covid-19.

The Delhi Capitals have already released an official statement revealing that Mitchell Marsh has been admitted to a hospital after returning a positive COVID test. The franchise further stated that as many as five members of the DC contingent have tested positive for the virus and thus, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have rescheduled the upcoming Delhi Capitals vs Punjab Kings IPL match at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on 20 April instead of the original venue being Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.

After being admitted to the hospital, Marsh will have to miss the upcoming few games for the Delhi Capitals and they will now have to find a replacement. He scored just 14 runs off 24 balls against Bangalore and was struggling to hit the boundaries. Tim Seifert is currently the frontrunner to replace Mitchell Marsh in the Delhi Capitals playing 11 for the match against Punjab Kings on Wednesday.

Seifert played the first two games of IPL 2022 for the Delhi Capitals but managed to score just 24 runs. However, the Rishabh Pant-led side can also go ahead with the Indian batsmen, Mandeep Singh or Sarfaraz Khan. If termed fit, right-arm speedster Anrich Nortje can be a surprising replacement but his inclusion in the DC playing 11 will weaken the batting line-up to a great extent.
