Delhi Capitals will be up against Kolkata Knight Riders in the 16th match of the Indian Premier League 2024 at Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
Kolkata Knight Riders are currently enjoying a successful season, having won both of their games and currently ranking second in the points table. On the other hand, Delhi Capitals, after losing their first two games, played their previous match at their home venue, Visakhapatnam, where they registered their first win of the tournament against Chennai Super Kings by 20 runs. This victory placed them at seventh in the points table, and they will look to continue their winning momentum at home on Wednesday.
Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders have gone tightly together in their 32 head-to-head meetings, with Kolkata Knight Riders leading 16-15.
Note: This will be their first meeting at Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, as this is Delhi Capitals’ temporary venue while the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi is being prepared after hosting a busy WPL event. Delhi Capitals will shift to their original home ground for the remaining five home games this season.
Delhi Capitals have won the last three meetings against Kolkata Knight Riders in a row while losing on two occasions in their last 5 head-to-head meetings.
Delhi Capitals started their campaign on a losing note, falling short by 4 wickets to Punjab Kings. They followed this with another defeat to Rajasthan Royals in a thrilling game, losing by 12 runs. However, in their third game of the tournament, they managed to post their highest runs on the board this season and successfully defended it by 20 runs. David Warner and Rishabh Pant both notched up their first fifty of the season and will aim to continue their fireworks at the top.
Meanwhile, KKR clinched their first game in a thrilling contest against Sunrisers Hyderabad by four runs, thanks to crucial overs from Harshit Rana. They continued their winning streak by defeating RCB in an easy run-chase of 182 runs.
Under the mentorship of Gautam Gambhir, KKR appears strong this time, riding high on the performances of Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, and Phil Salt. They boast one of the most effective spin attacks with the likes of Varun Chakaravarthy, Sunil Narine, and Suyash. Harshit Rana is filling the remaining gap in the fast bowling department for them.
With their current good form and a balanced squad, KKR is expected to secure another win.
