England Playing 11 for ENG vs AUS 5th Test Ashes 2023

Interestingly, going as per their norms, England have once again announced their playing 11 well in advance for the fifth and final Test match of the Ashes 2023 starting from 27 July, 2023 taking place at the Kennington Oval in London. The fourth Test match in Manchester ended in a draw as heavy rains forced no play to be possible on Day 5. Eventually, the visiting Australian team have retained the Ashes ‘Urn’ and are also leading the five-match Test series by 2-1 margin.

England Playing 11 announced for 5th Test

The England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have named an unchanged England playing 11 for the ENG vs AUS 5th Test Ashes 2023. Despite another ordinary performance in Manchester, veteran pace bowler James Anderson has retained his position in the English side. Anderson ended up picking just a single wicket in the fourth Test after he was rested at the Headingley. There is still no update on right-arm seamer Ollie Robinson’s fitness as he did not played the fourth Test against Australia due to back spasm. Moeen Ali batted really well at the No.3 position and will also be playing a crucial role with the ball at The Oval.

On the other hand, speedster Josh Tongue will continue to warm the bench as the England team management has decided to back the experienced Anderson for this final Ashes 2023 Test match. Both Mark Wood and Chris Woakes have been fantastic with the ball since their return to Test cricket. With Zak Crawley scoring a massive hundred in Manchester, England will be feeling very much confident of both their batting and bowling form ahead of the 5th Test match.
