ENG vs NZ

NZ Playing 11: New Zealand will face hosts England in the 2nd Test here at Birmingham. The visitors had a satisfying game in the last match but will be disappointed not being able to push for the victory. But they had a lot of positives which bodes well ahead of the big WTC Final. In 106 head-to-head matches played between these teams, 48 matches have been won by England while just 11 have gone NZ’s way. With both teams having some quality players in the squad, the battle for the series win is likely to be intense.

Trent Boult will be available for selection as the British government has eased the quarantine norms and he is back to training. Santner has been ruled out due to finger injury while Williamson will rest due to his problematic elbow. Southee can be rested ahead of the all important WTC Final.

NZ Playing 11 (likely)

Tom Latham (C)
Devon Conway
Will Young
Ross Taylor
Henry Nicholls
BJ Watling (wk)
Colin de Grandhomme
Doug Bracewell
Kyle Jamieson
Neil Wagner
Trent Boult

With Conway making a grand entry into Test cricket with a stunning double hundred, NZ’s opening problems seem to be solved for now. His opening partner Tom Latham will lead the side. With Williamson unavailable, it will be a good opportunity for Will Young to make his mark. The bowling looks strong with Boult returning to the mix. Boult, Jamieson and Wagner can be difficult to play if conditions favour them.

New Zealand Squad
Kane Williamson (Captain), Tom Blundell, Trent Boult, Doug Bracewell, Devon Conway, Colin de Grandhomme, Jacob Duffy, Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson, Tom Latham, Daryl Mitchell, Henry Nicholls, Ajaz Patel, Rachin Ravindra, Mitchell Santner, Tim Southee, Ross Taylor, Neil Wagner, BJ Watling, Will Young.
