Martin Guptill ENG vs NZ: In a crucial news development, senior opening batsman Martin Guptill has once again failed to find a spot in the New Zealand playing 11 for their important game against England in this ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2022 scheduled to be contested at The Gabba in Brisbane. The New Zealand team have already picked up two sensational victories in the ongoing tournament against Sri Lanka and Australia.
After losing the toss and being asked to bowl first, New Zealand captain Kane Williamson stated that they are going unchanged in this crucial encounter against England and this means that Martin Guptill will have to warm the bench once again. Guptill has not been able to find place in the Kiwi playing XI so far in his record seventh edition of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. The New Zealand team management has decided to back the in-form Finn Allen at the top of the order in place of Guptill. Allen also smacked a blistering knock of 42 runs off only 16 balls in the opening game against Australia.
“Used surface, we would have had a bat as well. But we are bowling first, need to make use and adapt to the conditions. The venues keep changing when you play a World Cup, important to start strong. We just want to focus on one game at a time and try to make those adjustments and keep sticking to our plans. We have a good contest here against England. They (Southee and Boult) have been great and adjusted to the conditions, they are experienced and important we use that new ball again. You always look at the opposition and make changes, but today we are going with the same team,” said New Zealand captain Kane Williamson during the toss.
