England Playing 11: In a massive breaking news update, hosts England have named their playing XI for the upcoming second Test match against South Africa scheduled to begin from 25 August, 2022 at the Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester. The Dean Elgar-led South Africa side went on to break England’s ongoing juggernaut by defeating the hosts by an innings and 12 runs in the first Test match. South Africa have picked up a 1-0 lead in the three-match Test series against England.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have announced their final playing 11 for the second Test against South Africa starting from Thursday. Hosts have made just a single change to their side from the opening Test as right-arm pacer Ollie Robinson returns to the team after a long injury lay-off in place of Matty Potts. Due to a back injury, Robinson missed the Windies tour and the recent home Test matches against New Zealand and India.
With a total of 21 wickets from as many as 4 Test matches, Ollie Robinson was the highest wicket-taker in 2021 home Test series against India. On the other hand, the England team management have decided to give one more opportunity to the out-of-form Zak Crawley in the second game against the Proteas.
