Former Indian captain MS Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket on August 15th, 2020. Even then, this sudden announcement from his hasn’t led to any drop in the enormous amount of fanfare that he enjoys around the world. Fans haven’t fully come to terms with the fact that he won’t play for India anymore. They wish to see more of the Indian legend in blue, as it was quite evident from few of the posters and banners that were present in the stadium during India’s second T20I against Australia.
During the 2nd T20I between India and Australia, few of the Indian fans in the stadium came up with banners that read- “We Miss You Dhoni.” The Indian captain Virat Kohli saw that banner and replied with a heart-warming gesture. He was seen saying ‘Me too.’
Kohli made his debut under Dhoni and has stated several times publically that the Indian veteran will always be his captain, no matter if he is leading the side or not. Both of them share a great deal of friendship off the field as well. It was under Kohli that Dhoni played his last international match in the semi-final against New Zealand in the 2019 World Cup.
With yesterday’s win in the second T20I against Australi, Virat Kohli became the only Indian captain to win the T20 series in all SENA countries. Even the great MS Dhoni hasn’t achieved that feat. Chasing a humungous total of 195 set by the Aussies, India reached the finished the match with 2 balls to spare courtesy of some fine batting from Dhawan and Virat at top of the order and from Pandya at the end.
