Axar Patel Fastest Fifty: For India, left-arm spin bowling all-rounder Axar Patel has smashed the joint fifth fastest half-century in T20I cricket during the ongoing India vs Sri Lanka 2nd T20I being played at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. India managed to win the opening T20I encounter by a margin of 2 runs against Sri Lanka in an exciting game that went down the wire.
Before this game, not many of the cricket fans would have expected Axar Patel to register his name in the list of fastest fifty for India in the T20I format of the game. However, the southpaw has surprised everyone and smacked the joint 5th fastest fifty for India alongside Yuvraj Singh off just 20 deliveries against Sri Lanka in the 2nd T20I on Thursday. This is also the second fastest half-century by an Indian against the Lankan side in T20I cricket after Gautam Gambhir’s 19-ball fifty in 2009. Axar notched up a hattrick of sixes in Sri Lanka’s premier spinner Wanindu Hasaranga’s over and also brought up his fifty with an amazing six.
Former India cricketer Yuvraj Singh is on top of the table with an incredible half-century off only 12 balls against England during the 2007 T20 World Cup where he also smashed as many as 6 sixes in a single over.
