Former greats congratulate Team India on the series win

A century from the vice-captain Rohit Sharma and valiant efforts by the bowling unit assisted India in winning the three-match ODI series against Australia on Sunday at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. India beat Australia comprehensively by seven wickets and clinched the Paytm trophy at home. The no. 2 ranked side in ODIs, bowled brilliantly to restrict the Aussies to 286 for 9 in their 50 overs and chased down the score comprehensively with 15 balls to spare.

The Indian cricket team were on the receiving end of positive messages from former cricketers along with a few current players. Rohit’s ton, Shami’s spell sets up Bengaluru win

After getting beaten by the Aaron Finch led the side in the first ODI by 10 wickets, Virat Kohli and co. came back strongly winning the next two matches in dominating style to win the series.

In Rajkot and Bengaluru, it was the combined efforts of the batting unit and bowling unit which ensured India a series win. In the series decider, Mohammad Shami was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets while Ravindra Jadeja took two wickets as well.

Rohit Sharma came out firing during the chase and scored a match-winning knock of 119 runs from 128 balls, his 29th ODI ton. Skipper Virat Kohli scored 89 from 91 balls while Shreyas Iyer finished the match with his quickfire 44 run-knock.

India’s next assignment in New Zealand where the team is set to play five T20Is, three ODIs and two tests, starting from January 24. Last time when India toured New Zealand in 2019, Virat Kohli’s side has won the ODI series 4-1 but lost the T20I series 2-1.
