GT Playing 11: Gujarat Titans are at the top of the table winning 4 games in their first five matches. They are up against the defending champions in Chennai Super Kings who have just found their rhythm with a win over the title contenders in Royal Challengers Bangalore. Lets take a look at the possible combination of GT for their game against CSK.
Matthew Wade has been nothing but disappointing so far in the five games. He was supposed to be a backup player in the squad but the last minute withdrawal of Jason Roy opened the doors for the Australian wicket keeper batsman. He was even given his preferred opening position where he is most dangerous but he is looking like a fish out of the water so far.
Gujarat Titans can replace Matthew Wade with Kyle Mayers who can even contribute with the ball as well and he is also a good batsman of spin bowling. He looked mighty impressive in whatever games he opened in T20s. Vijay Shankar is literally giving them nothing with both bat and ball, they can bring in Wriddhiman Saha who can act as a specialist wicket keeper. Having said that, they would want to give Matthew Wade and Vijay Shankar one last chance before deciding about them.
Lockie Ferguson has been the standout overseas pacer in this edition of IPL so far. He is bowling excellent line and length coupled with his pace, makes him a nightmare for the opposition batsmen. Hardik Pandya has massively improved as a bowler and with him firing with the ball, GT literally have no loose ends with respect to their bowling department. Yash Dayal was very impressive in his debut IPL game. He managed to hit high 130s and also bowls hard lengths into the wicket that troubled the batsmen big time. With CSK having a batting unit that is suspect to high end pace, GT might really fancy their chance.
