Who won today’s IPL match?: Like the rest 50 matches of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, the 51st game was also full of entertainment with Gujarat Titans (GT) taking on Mumbai Indians (MI) at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The match went down the wire and saw both sides under immense pressure during the fag end. But it the five-time champions who held their nerves well and defended 9 runs in the final over to win their second game of the season.

Asked to bat first, Mumbai Indians openers Rohit Sharma (43) and Ishan Kishan (45) took them off the flyer as they scored 74 runs for the opening partnership. After that they lost wickets at regular intervals but Tim David came to rescue and finished the innings on high for his side and helped them post a total of 177 runs on the board.

Chasing the target, GT openers Wriddhiman Saha (55) and Shubman Gill (52) displayed a staggering stroke play and tonked MI bowlers all the over that part for their 106 runs partnership. The onus then was on Skipper Hardik Pandya and David Miller to take their side home. But Ishan Kishan’s brilliance with the gloves saw him getting run out for 24 runs. With 9 runs needed off the last over, the game saw another twist as Rahul Tewatia was also run out for 3 runs on the third delivery. Daniel Sams stood tall for MI and defended the score to help his side win their second match of the season.

Man of the match today IPL

Mumbai Indians batsman Tim David was awarded the Player of the match in today’s IPL 2022 encounter against Gujarat Titans in Mumbai. The right-hander came to bat when MI found themselves tumbling at 119/4. He played a brutal of 44 runs in just 21 balls to help his side post a total of 177 runs on the board. David’s knock was laced with 2 fours and 4 sixes and it also proved out to be the difference between the two sides.
