Harbhajan Singh Biopic: Harbhajan Singh is surely one of the greatest spinners and match-winner that the world of cricket has ever witnessed. During the memorable 2001 home Test series against Australia where he took a record number of 32 wickets, the senior off-spinner also became the first Indian to take a hat-trick in Test cricket. Harbhajan was part of the Indian squad during the 2007 World T20 and 2011 World Cup triumphs and also played pivotal roles in both the sensational victories.
India’s current third highest wicket-taker in Test cricket, Harbhajan Singh, is currently serving his mandatory quarantine before the start of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) where he will be playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). During an interview in quarantine, Harbhajan was asked that which Bollywood actor he wants to see playing his character if there will be a biopic made on him. The Indian spinner instantly mentioned that he would want popular Bollywood actors Vicky Kaushal or Ranveer Singh to play his role as the duo have great height and physique.
“If there would a film made based on my story then I think either Vicky Kaushal or Ranveer Singh should play. Both these boys looks like me and also have a good height and physic. Therefore they will be able to play my role very good, especially Vicky Kaushal as he is also a Punjabi guy so I think he will do it correctly.” quoted Harbhajan Singh.
With some very good spinners like Varun Chakravarthy, Sunil Narine, Shakib Al Hasan and Kuldeep Yadav already present in the KKR squad, it would be very difficult for the team to fit Harbhajan in the starting XI. However, KKR skipper Eoin Morgan has already confirmed that the legendary Indian off-spinner will be very useful for the team this season especially while playing in Chennai.
“Adding Harbhajan to our squad has strengthened us in a really, really good way, I think. When you look at our spin department as a whole, on paper it’s one of the best in the tournament and that’s factual. You look at the options that we have and the conditions that we might play, particularly in Chennai which notoriously can turn, or at least raise the eyebrows over our spinners, which is hard to do. It’s an area that I think if we play well in the tournament I think our spinners will have bowled well and contributed in that regard,” stated Eoin Morgan.
