India’s T20 series down under has finally come to an end. The visitors dominated the first two matches, whereas the hosts emerged victorious in the third and final T20I. Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya was adjudged the man of the series by a panel consisting of several top tier commentators. But in a heart-warming gesture, Hardik Pandya decided to give his award to an equally deserving T Natarajan, who had a dream start to his international career.
Hardik Pandya and T Natarajan were two of the prime top performers for India in the T20I series. Pandya had scores of 16(15), 42*(22), and 20(13) throughout the entire series, with all of them coming in at crucial times when India was in dire need of someone to step-up. Natarajan on the other hand had a brilliant start to his international T20 career as he picked up figures of 3-30, 2-20, and 1-33 during the course of the entire series. The committee of commentators who had the right to call the man of the series gave the award to Hardik Pandya. He on the other hand, publically stated that T Natarajan was his choice for the ‘Man of the Series’ award for the efforts that he put in during his very first International series. He even handed over the award to the debutant after the presentation.
“Natarajan, you were outstanding this series. To perform brilliantly in difficult conditions on your India debut speaks volumes of your talent and hard work. You deserve Man of the Series from my side bhai! Congratulations to #TeamIndia on the win” he wrote on his social media platforms along with a picture of him with Natarajan.
Natarajan was quick to respond to this and he retweeted Pandya’s tweet with a heartfelt ‘Thank You Brother’ message. Fans and Cricket pundits across the globe praised Pandya for this heartwarming gesture.
This is not the first time that Pandya has praised Natarajan. Even after the 2nd T20I when he was handed over the Man of the Match award, he stated that he honestly felt that Natarajan was more deserving than him for the award.
