The owner of the highest powerplay score in IPL is Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The two-time winners in the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 2017 edition of the marquee tournament achieved the feat.

Chasing the target of 159, Kolkata Knight Riders opened with Sunil Narine and Chris Lynn. The duo didn’t disappoint their fans as they came out all guns blazing and smashed 105 runs inside the power play. While Narine smashed his fastest half-century in IPL, Lynn scored 49 runs inside the 5 overs. Notably, this is also the highest score in power plays in the T20s.

Chennai Super Kings – 100/2 

The second highest power play score in IPL was registered by Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The winners of IPL 2021, achieved the landmark against Kings XI Punjab in the playoffs of IPL 2014.

Even though Chennai Super Kings lost that match but this match would be remembered for Suresh Raina’s heroics with the bat. The southpaw smashed scored 87 runs off just 25 balls. All thanks to this knock, CSK registered the second-highest score in power play in IPL. They ended the first six overs with a score of 100/2.

Chennai Super Kings – 90/0 

With four titles in their kitty, there’s no surprise that Chennai Super Kings are again on the list of the highest powerplay score in IPL. They achieved the feat in IPL 2015 against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium.

Batting first, Chennai Super Kings openers Brendon McCullum and Dwayne Smith came out all guns blazing and left no stone unturned. They smashed Mumbai bowlers all over the park to end the power play with the score of 90/0. Notably, they smashed 61 runs in the final three overs of the power play to end it on high.

Kochi Tuskers Kerela – 87/2 

Kochi Tuskers Kerala, who played two IPL seasons, are fourth on the list of highest scores by the IPL team in power play. They smashed 87 runs in the mandatory six-over power play against Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2011.

Kochi Tuskers Kerala dominated the match as after they bowled out Rajasthan Royals for just 97 runs. They came out with the motivate of finishing the match as soon as possible. They registered a score of 87 runs in the power play and then chased that target in just 7.2 overs to win the match.

Kings XI Punjab – 86/1 

Although Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) have not won any IPL title. They surely are one of the most entertaining sides in the marquee tournament and have some records to their name including, being fifth on the list of the highest scores in the power plays in the history of IPL.

In a match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2014, Punjab lost Virender Sehwag early. But after that  Manan Vohra and Wriddhiman Saha hammered the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Dale Steyn all over the park. They ended the mandatory 6-over power play for the score or 86/1. They then added 91 runs for the second wicket partnership as KXIP won the match.
