Hanuma Vihari donation: With the rising COVID-19 cases in India, plenty of Indian cricketers are doing their bit to serve the community. This time it’s specialist Test batsman Hanuma Vihari that made the move. Vihari recently shared a story of a priest from Laxmi Ganpathi Temple in Kushaiguda, on social media, whose family is struggling to meet the expenses of his treatment.

That’s where Hanuma Vihari made the decision of contributing to assist the family, while, also urging the rest of his fans to do the same.

Hanuma Vihari donation for COVID-19

The middle-order batsman mentioned on Instagram how Mr Kiran Kumar is currently on a ventilator fighting for his life. The 27-year-old stated that the Mr Kumar’s family is having a difficult time to bear the medical expenses, and also that they’ve sold their personal belongings in the process.

Hanuma Vihari was also quoted saying that he has now started a fundraiser of INR 5 Lakh to help Kumar’s family in such dire circumstances.

Quite a few people have been motivated to walk behind Vihari, and have contributed a significant sum of INR 4,57,884 for the treatment of Mr Kumar. Hanuma Vihari himself has chipped in with INR 25,000 for the cause.

 

 

Hanuma Vihari was ignored in the mini-auction of the IPL 2021. As a result of that, Vihari decided to sign a contract and play for Warwickshire in the County Championship. The Andra Pradesh based batsman, has featured in 12 Tests for India so far, and has had some notable contributions.

Vihari’s heroics in Australia

Vihari has scored 624 runs, which includes four fifties and a hundred as well. However, his most worthy innings came in the 3rd Test versus Australia at the SCG.  The Aussies needed just five wickets to win, with more than a session remaining. But that’s where Hanuma Vihari and Ravichandran Ashwin dug deep to save the match and not lose a wicket in the process.

Vihari scored and unbeaten 23 from 161 deliveries, while playing a cramp for more than a couple of hours. Whereas, Ashwin scored 39 from 128 deliveries, while remaining unbeaten. The heroics of both players kept the Indians alive in the series, as they eventually won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in the 4th and final Test at the Gabba.
