ICC Spokesperson Provides Update on Fate of T20 World Cup

The unwanted COVID-19 crisis has literally shaken the world and everyone is kept on halt. The ICC T20 World Cup is the next mega event in International cricket and ICC is hoping that the tournament goes ahead as per plans.

However, they are not in a hurry and want to explore all options before making a final call. The proposed plan for the commencement of the T20 World Cup is October 18th in Australia.

With Australia sealing its borders and putting restrictions on traveling as a measure to fight this dreadful pandemic, there have been speculations that the T20 World Cup might get postponed or will get cancelled.

“We are continuing with our planning for ICC events as they are, but given the rapidly evolving situation as a prudent and responsible measure we are also undertaking a comprehensive contingency planning exercise,” an ICC spokesperson was quoted as saying by SkySport.

“This includes exploring all options available to us based on a range of scenarios connected to the pandemic.”

‘We will utilize all the data and information available to us’ ICC

The ICC is also seeking advice from the Australian governmental bodies and stakeholders for the same and won’t take any decisions without consulting.

“We will continue to take advice from experts and authorities, including the Australian government and will take decisions at the appropriate time,” the spokesperson said.

“We will utilise all the data and information available to us to ensure we can take well-informed, responsible decisions that are in the best interests of our sport.”

As of now, the fate of the T20 World Cup still in hot waters and we could only hope for the best amidst the dreadful COVID-19 outrage.
