Dinesh Karthik IND vs AFG: Team India have faced a lot of embarrassment during the ongoing Super 4 stage of the Asia Cup 2022. After having registered two brilliant victories in the group stage, the Rohit Sharma-led side succumbed to poor back-to-back losses at the hands of first arch-rivals Pakistan and then Sri Lanka. With these two disappointing performances, the Men in Blue, who managed to win the previous two editions of Asia Cup, have already been knocked out of the T20 tournament.
In their last match of Asia Cup 2022 campaign, India will be facing Afghanistan on 8 September, 2022 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. A lot of questions were asked to the Indian captain Rohit Sharma during the post match press conference after the loss to Sri Lanka and many of them straightway pointed towards the playing combination. India included Deepak Hooda in the playing XI during the last two matches after Ravindra Jadeja’s injury, but the former’s services with the ball were not used even when the frontline bowlers were conceding plenty of runs. Therefore, once again there is a big possibility that the experienced finisher Dinesh Karthik will return to the side in the match against Afghanistan on Thursday.
“I was thinking of bringing Hooda but it did not work out the way we thought. Avesh has not pulled up that well. He didn’t turn up well. He was quite sick. Ideally, when we start touring, we would like four seamers., But you also try with three. Come the World Cup, I want to be ready with all answers,” said Indian captain Rohit Sharma.
