India and England are currently squaring off each other in the first Test of the five-Test series at Trent Bridge. Day 1 turned out to be an impressive outing for Team India as they ticked all the boxes.

The first Test match also kick starts the second edition of the WTC and both the teams would be eager to start WTC cycle 2021-2023 on a positive note. England finished 4th in the WTC 2019-21 cycle and India on the other side, finished as the runner-up.

Nottingham Weather update for Day 2 

Day 2 of the first Test match between England and India is expected to see light rain with a moderate breeze, which could get heavier over time. The morning session is likely to go unaffected with only 2-3 per cent chances of rain predicted but the showers could play part in the second session with over 40% probability of precipitation and it can increase up to 70% for the third session.

There could also be disruptions due to thunderstorms as well. With the breeze and cloudy weather expected to stay for the whole day the conditions will be excellent to play in with the average temperature being 20 degrees Celsius.

IND vs ENG, 1st Test Day 2: What happened on the Day 1 of the Test between India and England? 

Team India had a great outing on the Day 1 of the first match between India and England. The hosts won the toss and decided to bat first at Trent Bridge. The visitors on the other hand made a bold decision and left out R Ashwin, picking four pacers in their playing XI which paid off.

The pace quartet of Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami were spot on and displayed impressive bowling skills to bundle out hosts for just 183 runs.

Joe Root was the only batsman from the English side to score above 30 as Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami scalped seven wickets among themselves. In reply, Indian openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul showed great promise and confidence to put on an unbroken 21-run opening partnership in 13 testing overs.
