After losing the toss and being asked to bowl first, Jasprit Bumrah got India off to an amazing start by dismissing England opener Rory Burns in the first over of the Test match. England’s No.3 Zak Crawley looked really good for his 27 runs before Mohammed Siraj got the better of him just before lunch on Day 1. India’s senior fast bowler Mohammed Shami then removed Dominic Sibley at the start of the second session.

For England, the duo of skipper Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow then resurrected the innings with a fine partnership of 72 runs for the fourth wicket. However, Bairstow getting out on the last ball before the Tea break proved to be a massive turning point in the Test match. England captain Joe Root once again looked in a great form smashing a brilliant innings of 64 runs. But then the hosts suffered a dramatic collapse as from 138 for 3, they crumbled to 160 for 9.
