IND vs ENG 1st Test: England and India are currently facing off in a gripping 1st Test match in Nottingham. It will be fair to say that the visiting Indian team has looked the better side so far in this match having taken a crucial first innings lead of 95 runs. England were bowled out for a below-par total of 183 runs after a sensational performance from the Indian fast bowlers.

India’s best batsman so far in this Test match, KL Rahul, did had his fair share of luck early in the second session on Day 3 after England captain Joe Root dropped a sitter in slips. However, veteran bowler James Anderson kept bowling in that corridor of uncertainty and eventually, forced the right-hander to nick one that went straight to wicket-keeper Jos Buttler. Rahul played amazing well during his 84-run knock that included 12 boundaries. India’s seam-bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur was dismissed for a 6-ball duck by Anderson.

While batting virtually with the tailenders, Ravindra Jadeja batted really well to notch up a brilliant half-century at a vital time in the Test match but also lost his wicket after reaching the landmark. However, the turning point of this second session was the application shown with the bat by the Indian pace trio of Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj adding a total of 46 runs between them. The pair of Siraj and Bumrah stitched a valuable stand of 33 runs for the 11th wicket as India were bowled out for 278 runs in the first innings. However, the visitors have a massive first innings lead of 95 runs that has given them a commanding position in this first Test against England.

Jasprit Bumrah played an important innings of 28 runs with the bat. For England, Ollie Robinson picked up his maiden five-wicket haul while Anderson finished with four scalps. England’s opening pair of Rory Burns and Dominic Sibley successfully got through a nervy passage of play towards the end of the second session. At Tea time on Day 3 of the first Test match, England are 11 for no loss in the second innings trailing India by 84 runs.
