IND vs ENG: Rishabh Pant replaces Shreyas Iyer in India’s playing XI

India’s middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer has already been ruled out for the entire India vs England ODI series due to a dislocated shoulder. India have made a single change in their playing XI for the second ODI with Rishabh Pant coming in for the injured Iyer. After doing well behind the wickets in the recent few Test matches and T20Is, Pant will most likely takeover the wicket-keeping duties from KL Rahul for this game as well.

“We wanted to bat first again. Conditions play a big part, soft outfield again, just getting runs on the board in the last game really helped us out. We always felt we were in the game. That’s what development of a team is all about. If you want to perform anywhere in the world against your wishes, then you have to be ready to do whatever happens at the toss. That’s why we wanted to put ourselves in a similar position again even if we won the toss.”

“Hopefully, we can do much better in the middle overs. You have to be precise in your plans and executions. That’s something we did the last game. We didn’t want to take the game deep. We wanted to attack at all times. He (Shreyas Iyer) is out with a shoulder injury, Rishabh Pant replaces him, that’s the only change,” said Virat Kohli who has now lost four back-to-back tosses in this white-ball leg of the England series.
