Joe Root gets closer to a wonderful hundred

The host England team started the second session on Day 4 with the partnership of Joe Root and Dominic Sibley continuing their brilliant stroke-play. Both the batters were looking in a fine touch until Sibley was dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah to end a fabulous 89-run stand. However, even after losing a wicket, new batsman Jonny Bairstow came out with a positive intent and played some aggressive strokes. Both Root and Bairstow smashed some attacking strokes to push India on the backfoot.

The duo added a total of 42 runs for the fourth wicket in quick time before Siraj ended the dangerous looking partnership by taking the wicket of Bairstow. He got out after scoring 30 runs off 50 balls that included four boundaries and the Indian bowler even gave him a send-off while walking back to the pavilion. However, England skipper Joe Root is still looking as solid as a rock on the crease staying on an unbeaten 96 runs at the end of the second session with England comfortably placed at 235 for 5. The hosts ended up losing three wicket in that session before tea.
